Life Groups

The "life" or "cell" group has its roots in the early church's experience of mobile house groups that were documented throughout the New Testament.

Often used to escape persecution, these house groups were essential to the establishment and spread of the new Christian faith.

In a modern context, we retain the spirit of these early house groups by providing an opportunity for Christians to find midweek fellowship in their local area.

What can I expect from a Life Group?

In a general sense, there is little to distinguish a life group from any other kind of house gathering; a bunch of people are invited round to somebody's house, they have a drink, chat, maybe have some dinner together, and at some point…they go home!

However what will be different is the degree to which they choose to engage in Christian practices such as prayer, communion and even worship. In reality, life groups will vary significantly; many won't incorporate any of those religious elements mentioned at all, and will concentrate purely on the social aspect. Other, perhaps more focussed and intimate groups, may do all of those things — and more besides.

But by far the most important role of the life group is to embed you into the life of the church. Many people still see church as a purely ceremonial duty that they have to perform once a week. Life groups help to demonstrate that church is far more than that; for us…it's life itself!

How can I find a life group?

The simplest way to get connected is to send us a message via the Get Started button below, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Alternatively, if you're already attending our Sunday services, you can ask one of the hosts at the church door (or whoever looks they have some kind of role — appearances can be deceptive!) and they can put you in touch with someone in the know.
